With summer well and truly here, what could be better than watching live music on a sunny day with a drink in hand? It’s the season for music lovers to head to their favourite festivals, but this year we have a put together our favourites that you might not have heard of.

Green Man Festival

When is it? 4th - 7th August

Set in the picturesque Breacon Beacons in Wales, this three-day festival has been growing in popularity over the past few years. With top headline slots from James Blake, Belle & Sebastian and Laura Marling, this festival has a definite folk feel, however it’s not all about the music. With opportunities to experience art, comedy, film and literature this festival certainly packs a lot for your money.

Wilderness Festival

When is it? 4th - 7th August

A relatively new festival in the grand scheme of things, having only been around since 2011, this festival takes place in the Cornbury Park nature reserve in Oxfordshire. A bit further removed from your usually festival experience, the natural setting allows you to truly unwind. Take a dip in the lake in the morning to start your day before experiencing all the wonders of the festival, but don’t get too carried away, you don't want to miss the fantastic food & drink feasts this festival is known for. This year you can look forward to amazing performances from well-known artists such as, Robert Plant, The Flaming Lips and Lianne LA Havas.

WOMAD

When is it? 28th -31st July

World of Music, Art and Dance festival otherwise known as WOMAD has been delighting audiences for quite a few years, and is perhaps the best place in the UK if you are looking for a multi-cultural festival. Drawing in performers from all over the world, this festival is a truly unique experience, not only in it’s choice of artists but for its culinary opportunities, with exotic dishes to excite the senses.

Super Normal Festival

When is it? 5th -7th August 2016

This one is for those looking to experience something out of the ordinary, despite what the title suggests. Set in Braziers Park, Oxfordshire, this experimental arts and music festival delivers experiences for audiences searching for something a bit less mainstream. With it’s intimate capacity of only 1500 people, this festival values creativity and innovation over commercialism and profit. Dive in and enjoy the unique experiences such as ‘Be a Beast’ masking making, Black Metal High Intensity Aerobics and other alternative art projects.

Secret Garden Party

When is it?  21st - 24th July 2016

Arguably the most well known out of these festivals, Secret Garden Party has been going from strength to strength, drawing even bigger crowds and impressive line-ups. If wearing a costume and dancing in a field listening to good music is your idea of fun, then this is the festival for you. One of the most colourful festivals around, don’t be surprised to see festival goers head to toe in whacky costumes, this years theme is ‘Gardeners Guide to the Galaxy’ so expect this years festival to be out of this world!
